Here, at Musiqology, we pride ourselves in not just hosting engaging conversations about music, but also in making music ourselves. This is a mission birthed out of the work of our founding editor, Guthrie P. Ramsey. His long career as genre crossing pianist is a critical artery that informs his scholarship and teaching.
So it is with delight that we introduce our Musiqology community to Bridget Ramsey. Yes, she is his daughter, but she is her own artist as well. So that is where we start, with her own words about the artistic journey on which she is inviting us.
If you’re in Philadelphia, we’re excited for you to join us at Bridget’s listening party for her forthcoming EP, B Eclectic, this Wednesday, April 15th, at L’etage at 7pm. Tickets are available here.

Bridget Ramsey: B Eclectic
Eclectic has been one of my favorite words for quite some time. I love the idea of people, places, and things being influenced by different cultures. So naturally when it came to making music, I tried to use many different styles and sounds. For my solo EP “B Eclectic”, I incorporated my classical and jazz backgrounds, threw in some reggae rhythm and pop form, and created an RnB-esque sound that has a mix of everything. You might even stumble upon a hip hop song from my duo EP “Uncensored Soul” with Atlanta-based rapper Trevor St. Clair (the verdict is still out on that!). To me, being an eclectic person means not just listening to different styles of music, but being a person who is open and interested in many styles, cultures, mindsets and ways of life. This is why I decided to release two very different sounding EPs around the same time. With my duo hip hop project “Uncensored Soul”, and my solo EP “B Eclectic”, you get a small glimpse into my efforts to blur lines. I make music that makes me happy without trying to fit into a box.
Boxes are overrated.
B Eclectic!
