I’m rarely “jazz sensitive,” but even I thought that jazz culture took a beating in this Grammy-winning film. I remember upright bass players getting a few calluses from practicing to much. In this film, the protagonist, an emotionally troubled drummer, actually practices until he bled on the snare. It was beautifully shot, though.
