José James and Talia Billig created a beautiful video for his cover of Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come.” I’m grateful they included me, along with folx like Robert Glasper, Feminista Jones, Rich Medina, and Spinna Dj-Vincent Williams so that I could “speak” the name of my fellow Rattler,#JonathanFerrell, who was shot and killed by a Charlotte Police Officer on September 14, 2013
Simone Eccleston, Associate Director of Harlem Stage, gave the perfect for dedication his video:
“For all of our ancestors and elders who have used music as a platform to voice our struggle and for all of the incredible musicians who are doing so now THANK YOU. You provide us with the space to grieve, fight, love, hope and dream. Music is the message and a conduit for transformation.”
