I think it is also worth noting that this kind of inspiration is not a one-way street. Funk’s impact on jazz has been a significant feature of music in the genre from the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra (“Do Have At It” comes to mind) to songs like “Match Point” which we heard from Dr. Guy’s Musiqology.
